This is a photo of the original rug dated 1911.
The stars and hearts are outlined with the lightest value in the rug. The inside of the stars and hearts are worked with a red tweed whereas the stars have a center circle of brighter red. The red stars and hearts are on a sage green field. The date is worked in a faded red, set on a dark, greenish black. The outside edges are worked in a check or tweed of black and green, with the remaining background a dark green. This design can be worked with large cuts, easy to hook and color plan!
