This is a photo of the original, yarn sewn rug hooked circa 1860.
Two facing roosters, with the rising sun, surrounded by a vining border. It was stitched with wool yarn, in a satin stitch, on a linen backing.
The adapted pattern comes with cockscomb flowers in the border.
