This is a black and white photo of the original rug, hooked circa 1880.
A New England village, circa 1800, with a church, chicken coop, bee skep, school house, houses, barns, out buildings, water well, tombstone, abundant trees and birds flying in the sky and one large bird at the barn. Everything a village needs! This primitive design is easy to hook and would be wonderful as a hall runner or hanging on the wall, as they did in the 1880's to protect the walls from hand prints.
